  • 1963 → ESAN is founded as the first graduate business school in the Spanish- speaking world. Its first dean was Alan B. Coleman.
  • 1964 → The first full-time Master’s Program in Management begins.
  • 1965 → The first graduating class of the full-time Master’s Program in Management.
  • 1968 → The first Executive Education Program (PEE) is offered in Peru.
  • 1970 → ESAN moves to the Monterrico campus.
  • 1977 → The first Advanced Management Program is launched, now known as PADE.
  • 1981 → The computing era begins at ESAN with the launch of ESAN Data.
  • 1982 → The first part-time Master’s Program in Management is offered in Peru.
  • 1991 → ESAN contributes to the creation of the Peruvian Scientific Network, a pioneering initiative that helped develop the internet in Peru.
  • 2002 → ESAN becomes the first institution in the country to receive AMBA accreditation for its MBA program.
  • 2003 → A law is enacted transforming ESAN into a university.
  • 2004 → The first specialized master’s program is launched: Finance and Corporate Law. Today, ESAN offers over 19 such programs.
  • 2008 → ESAN launches its first undergraduate program with five degrees. Today, it offers more than 16.
  • 2010 → Stanford University and Universidad ESAN co-host the Roundtable on Entrepreneurship Education – Latin America (REE LA). Also, the first International Corporate Law Congress is held with participation from Stanford experts Jonathan D. Greenberg and F. Daniel Siciliano.
  • 2013 → ESAN celebrates its 50th anniversary with the participation of Alan B. Coleman (founder and first dean), Garth Saloner (then Dean of Stanford GSB), and John J. Fernandes (CEO of AACSB International). Universidad ESAN becomes the first institution in the country to have 10 undergraduate and graduate programs simultaneously accredited by AACSB International. The first undergraduate cohort also graduates.
  • 2014 → Paul Krugman, Nobel Laureate in Economics, and Francis Fukuyama, Senior Fellow at Stanford, visit ESAN and give keynote lectures. The Fab Lab ESAN is inaugurated—the first digital fabrication lab at a private university in Peru.
  • 2016 → ESAN’s Doctoral Program is admitted to Edamba, a prestigious network of European doctoral programs.
  • 2017 → The Full-Time and Part-Time MBA programs in Lima receive ISO 9001:2015 certification. ESAN also obtains Icacit accreditation for its Industrial and Commercial Engineering and Information Technology and Systems Engineering programs.
  • 2018 → Universidad ESAN obtains institutional licensing granted by Sunedu.
  • 2019 → ESAN ranks among the top 5 business schools in Latin America according to América Economía.
  • 2021 → ESAN strengthens its academic offering in corporate law with the launch of ESAN Business Law.
  • 2023 → ESAN celebrates its 60th anniversary with the participation of Jonathan Levin, then Dean of Stanford GSB.
  • 2024 → ESAN is recognized as the #1 business school in Peru by QS and Financial Times rankings. ESAN School of Government is launched, focusing on public management and governance.
  • 2025 → ESAN celebrates the 50th edition of its iconic International Week, the largest and most pioneering event of its kind in the region. ESAN Ecosystem is launched, connecting specialized education with businesses and institutions. Beyond → Today, you are the success. You are the legacy that continues this story.

¿Qué desalienta la formalización laboral en el Perú?

César Puntriano, profesor de ESAN Business Law, explicó que la alta informalidad laboral en el Perú, que afecta a 12 millones de personas, se ve desalentada por los elevados costos tributarios y laborales, así como por la excesiva burocracia. Sostuvo que los regímenes especiales no han funcionado y que los esfuerzos del gobierno han sido insuficientes, al no atacar el problema de fondo. Puntriano concluyó que revertir esta situación requiere voluntad política y una coordinación interinstitucional efectiva.

El poder del eWOM

Walter Palomino, docente de los programas el área de Marketing de ESAN,  destacó en Mercado Negro que el “Mundial de los Desayunos” de Ibai evidenció el poder del electronic Word of Mouth (eWOM). Los millones de likes al pan con chicharrón no solo aseguraron su triunfo, sino que detonaron conversaciones offline y mayor consumo local.
